Maldivian dies due to tipping over of a fork lift in Maavelaavau island of Noonu Atoll

A Maldivian has died due to tipping over of a fork lift in Maavelaavau island of Noonu Atoll. Maavelaavaru is an island which being developed as a tourist resort. According to Maavalaavaru resort the incident occurred yesterday at around 1245 pm and the person who died was Ahmed Rasheed age 34 of M. Highway. According to Maavelaavaru Resort the incident occurred when a fork lift carrying a concrete slab while going on the beach tipped over. According to information received when the forklift was up righted with the help of an excavator Ahmed Rasheed was found underneath the fork lift. The driver of the forklift is reported to be a Sri Lankan national. Maavelaavaru Resort informs that as soon as Ahmed Rasheed was discovered he was taken to Raa Atoll Ungoofaar Hospital but was pronounced dead by the doctor who examined him. Ahmed Rasheed’s body was brought to Male’ yesterday evening for funeral procedures. According to information received the driver escaped with out serious injuries. Ahmed Rasheed was the chief on the island. He is survived by a wife and a son. According to information both the mother and the child are currently in New Zealand. Maavelaavaru Resort is being developed by Athamaa Investments Pvt. Ltd.
